Story

Colombia Supremo is a delectable green coffee bean from the Antioquia and Quindío regions of Colombia. The primary varieties grown here are the Bourbon, Caturra, and Typica coffee plants, which are resistant to the leaf rust disease known as Roya. The coffee cherries are washed and sun dried to bring out their natural apple, caramel, and chocolate flavors. Colombian coffee is referred to by the region in which it is grown, with altitudes ranging from 1,100 - 2,000 meters above sea level. Colombia is the largest producer of washed Arabica coffee and third highest elevation in the world, after Brazil and Vietnam. Annual production ranges from 12 - 15 million 70-kilo bags, of which approximately 12.5 million bags are exported while an additional 2 million bags are consumed locally. Colombia farms are unique for their ability to produce coffee throughout all 12 months of the year due to its range of micro climates and terrain. The flowering period spans April through October, while the main crop is harvested from September through December. The mitaca harvest runs from March through June.
